The Redemption of the Green Rose

The story is set across two eras: the modern day and late nineteenth-century England, with the mysterious Green Rose Manor at its heart. In the modern era, the green rose, a rare flower, attracts the attention of the floral design world, while the manor’s old house conceals secrets buried by time. In the late nineteenth century, amid the estates of Victorian nobility, the green rose symbolizes forbidden love and deadly conspiracies. A family curse and the tides of the Industrial Revolution intertwine to reveal a complex portrait of human nature.

• Main plot: After inheriting the manor, modern-day florist Lin Wantang discovers her grandmother Bai Fulan’s diary, uncovering a past involving the cultivation of green roses, family feuds, and forbidden love. In the nineteenth century, Bai Fulan, the manor owner’s widow, works with the impoverished painter Shen Yanqiu to cultivate green roses, only to become entangled in her brother-in-law Gu Tingye’s plot to seize the inheritance. The stories of two generations intertwine through the clues hidden in the green roses, ultimately lifting the curse and revealing the flower’s true meaning: “everlasting love.” On the night the green roses bloom, Lin Wantang decides to uncover the truth. She and Shen Mo return to the manor, only to find Gu Mingcheng already waiting there. During their confrontation, Gu Mingcheng produces a DNA test proving he is a direct descendant of Gu Tingye, while Shen Mo, too, turns out to have a claim to the manor. Meanwhile, the truth from a century ago gradually comes together through the grandmother’s diary and a newly discovered pocket watch: Bai Fulan was actually a double agent.
