“The stars in her eyes are what I have sought all my life. Anning is as sincere and radiant as the moon, and every move she makes steals my heart.”
“I, Xie Heng, swear here and now: Anning alone will be my wife in this life. I will take no concubines and never waver in my devotion. I will keep her safe and happy, year after year, free from worry and harm.”
“If Anning wants it, I'll storm the enemy camp for you and let the whole world know that the man in Lady Yan's heart is destined to be the brightest star among generals!”
“If not for those three years, Anning should have been my wife.”
“I'll wear red and dance for you once more. Then… you can consider me married to you.”
“Bound by our hair, we become husband and wife, trusting each other without doubt. Through storms we walk together, sharing our days and nights until our twilight years.”
“May Ah Heng have a virtuous wife by his side in this life, and a house full of children and grandchildren. May every year bring peace, and may everything go as he wishes.”
In the first year of Xuande, Princess Anning of Great Yan and wife of Prince Rui of Great Shun died at the age of eighteen.
Yan Anning was the legitimate princess of Great Yan. In her youth, she met Xie Heng, the ninth prince of Great Shun. Xie Heng had thought they could spend their lives together and protect Yan Anning's peace forever. But relations between Great Shun and Great Yan deteriorated, and the emperor of Great Shun suspected the King of Great Yan of plotting rebellion. After Zhao Yuefeng and Xie Sang framed him, the emperor sent troops to wipe out the Yan royal family. With the help of Xie Kang, the seventh prince of Great Shun, Yan Anning barely survived and secretly endured the rest of her days. When Xie Heng returned from the battlefield, Yan Anning blamed him. To avenge her fallen country and family, she joined forces with Xie Heng and Xie Kang. After lying low for three years, she finally killed her enemies with her own hands. Just when she thought she could live happily at last, Xie Heng was poisoned while saving her. Yan Anning gave her life in exchange for his, bringing her brief life to an end.
