The Records of Jing state: Empress Jiang, wife of Emperor Shizong, was renowned for her talent from a young age. As a member of the imperial in-laws, she entered the palace and attended to the Empress Dowager day and night, taking the Emperor's place in fulfilling his filial duties. The Empress was graceful and beautiful, with every gesture in keeping with proper etiquette. She was also well versed in the classics and histories, and so took her place as Empress. Emperor Shizong dearly loved her. Throughout the entire Tiancheng era, he never went against her wishes, and always did as she said.
