We met as youngsters at an ancient temple. He was a gentle monk in blue robes, holding the scriptures; I was a fiery young swordsman from the back alleys. A bowl of porridge and a cup of tea warmed half a year of our youth.
When heavenly tribulation descended, he fell into the Demon Abyss to protect all living beings. Demonic energy gnawed at his bones, yet he held fast to his true self. I stayed in the Buddhist realm to search for him, keeping a lamp burning before the Buddha while cherishing our old bond.
When we met again, he wielded a demonic sword to destroy evil spirits, while I carried a Buddhist staff to relieve the world's suffering. Buddhist light and demonic energy intertwined, not in defiance of heaven or the Dao, but to protect the mortal world together.
We were spirits of the same origin, born to complement each other beneath a great deity: one half Buddha, one half demon. The Buddha saves all beings, while the demon protects them. Good and evil depend on a single thought, and Buddha and demon share the same root.
He is my Buddha, guiding me through half a lifetime of confusion; he is also my demon, standing with me to protect the four corners of the world.
From youthful friendship to facing the world side by side, Buddha and demon return as one. Together, we will keep the Three Realms at peace and safeguard the warmth of human life!
