Ditiansui: Eight-Character Numerology

"Drip Tiansui" is an ancient Chinese numerology work, written under the name of Jingtu in the Song Dynasty. The original work expounds the theory and ideas of eight-character fortune-telling in the form of seven-character poems. It includes many chapters such as heavenly stems, earthly branches, physical function, decline and prosperity, neutralization, origin, clearance, hardness and softness, compliance, cold and warmth, dryness and dampness, hidden and obvious, and numerous. The original text only has more than 3,000 words, so its content is extremely mysterious. Later, Liu Ji, a master of magic in the early Ming Dynasty, commented on it. In the third year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, Liu Zhu's "Drip Tianmui" was included in "Four Types of Secretaries of Jingzhai of the Hundred and Second Han Dynasty" and published. Around the same period, the folk magician Ren Tieqiao re-annotated the "Dipping Heaven Essence" and appended a large number of practical examples. Many of his views were contrary to Liu Ji's. Ren's annotation of "Di Tiansui" has its own system, is easy to understand, and is widely circulated among the people.
