When neon lights illuminate the urban night sky, a mysterious world of spirits and demons lies hidden beneath the bustling city. A Li, a nine-tailed fox demon with short hair and nine tails tucked away, runs an agency called Nine Tails Office, taking on the supernatural world’s strangest and most difficult cases. She’s a money-loving “little miser,” as well as a skilled detective who uses illusion and mind-reading to unravel clues. Her one weakness is probably how her tail instantly turns soft and adorable whenever she sees dessert.
From a dream-eating tapir stealing young women’s emotions beneath the moon, to a cat-demon influencer full of tricks in a livestream, to a young fox of her own kind stirring up campus ghost stories, A Li solves cases with Bai Chenzhou, the sharp-tongued Black Impermanence; Lin Xia, a human tech geek; and Tangyuan, a rabbit demon who loves carrot cake. Together, they laugh their way through investigations in the narrow space between the human and demon worlds. But beneath the easygoing daily life, dark currents are gathering. The truth behind the wrongful accusation that befell her family five hundred years ago is gradually coming to light, while a plot to overturn the balance between the two worlds is brewing. Can nine tails sweep away the shadows? Join A Li on this fantastical adventure full of laughter and tears!
