At the end of the Shang Dynasty, King Zhou was once a brave and powerful ruler. But after Daji, possessed by a nine-tailed fox spirit, captured his heart, he became addicted to wine and women. He cut out the hearts and livers of loyal ministers and devised the brutal punishment of the bronze pillar, leaving the people to suffer beyond endurance. King Wu of Zhou in Xiqi resolved to overthrow King Zhou and called upon the white-haired Jiang Ziya for help. But behind this mortal conflict, the immortals in Heaven were locked in their own struggle: the two great celestial masters Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu fought with magic, sending their disciples down the mountain. Some aided Zhou, while others defended Shang. Magical treasures and supernatural powers filled the skies, moving mountains, overturning seas, and summoning wind and rain until the land itself split apart.
With the Investiture of the Gods List in hand, Jiang Ziya slew generals on the battlefield and conferred divine titles. Yet those heroes and demons who fell in battle were said to have ascended to Heaven as immortals, when in truth they were no more than pieces on Heaven’s chessboard...
- A fox demon brings ruin to the kingdom, loyal ministers and valiant generals die tragically, and King Zhou destroys his empire step by step;
- At eighty, Jiang Ziya takes command. A mortal stands up to the immortals and uses strategy to break every deadly formation;
- Ne Zha cuts his flesh from his bones to return them to his father, while Lei Zhenzi sprouts wings and flies into the sky. Every disciple of the immortals has an extraordinary past;
- The Zhu Xian Formation, the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation: the immortals fight even more brutally than mortals, and when their magical treasures appear, the heavens and earth change color!
“Everyone says immortals live carefree lives. Who knew they’d be even more vicious than mortals when plotting against one another!”
A special heads-up: the excitement really starts with the Four Generals of the Mo Family!!!
