Breaking Through the Trial of Love

This book is also known as The Mad Power Minister Keeps Trying to Marry into the Enemy Nation

Revenge-seeking assassin x mad power minister

(The male lead is extremely good at convincing himself she's in love with him. Locked-room warning. See Chapter One for content warnings.)

Five years after transmigrating, Song Zhao goes to the capital to avenge her late elder sister, and unexpectedly awakens a System.

System: You were originally the eldest princess of Northern Yan. But your uncle staged a coup, your father and mother were killed, and your little brother became a hostage in an enemy nation.

Your main quest is to agree to marry in place of someone else to the Marquis of Dingbei and steal military intelligence from him. At the same time, you must throw the court of Wei into chaos and help your little brother return home to ascend the throne. Once you complete the quest, you can resurrect your elder sister.

At first, Yin Xun says, "I can't give you a shred of love in this life."

Song Zhao (pretending to be weak, wrapping her arms around his waist): "Husband, don't go."

Later, Yin Xun wonders, "She kisses and bites me. Could it be that she likes me?"

"You don't understand. She really loves me."

"If she doesn't take the initiative, she doesn't care. Since she's so forward, she must be madly in love with me."

Song Zhao: "Get lost."

Later, Yin Xun realizes that his seemingly frail wife may not be so simple.

Yin Xun: "Should I call you Song Zhao, or address you respectfully as Your Excellency, Pavilion Master?"

Song Zhao (drawing her blade and stabbing at him): "And so? Are you going to turn me in to the authorities, husband?"

Yin Xun (smiling faintly as he catches the blade with his bare hand): "No. I want to work with you, my wife, and overthrow Wei together."

When Song Zhao tries to take her little brother home, Yin Xun locks her in a golden cage.

"You'll never leave me, not in this life or the next!"

But Song Zhao breaks out of the cage and escapes to her homeland.

When they meet again, their armies stand against each other.

Yin Xun drops to one knee. "I offer an army of three hundred thousand as your bride price. I humbly ask to marry into the eldest princess's household."
