When Xun Huan, dogged by bad luck, saw that the time on her digital alarm clock was stuck at 22:09, she thought it was broken. Then the ground gave way beneath her feet, and she accidentally fell into Hell.
Black Impermanence explained that the underworld had upgraded its Hell Mode and invited them to take part in a trial run.
She thought she only had to make it through one level, but she kept being sent back to Hell: the second level, the third, the fourth... Each level was a separate time and space, inhabited by people burdened with grave sins or driven there by circumstances beyond their control.
Some people had wandered into Hell by mistake, while others belonged there.
After surviving several levels, Xun Huan realized there was a pattern to it all, and everything about her began to change.
Later, she learned that the bad luck haunting her came from the Lord of Hell.
When she prepared to settle the score with him, the Lord of Hell knelt before her.
