My grandfather was born in 1928 and began revolutionary work in 1943. His records list 1944. In 2000, he came to the end of a life filled with tumultuous events. Looking back on his life, he rose from an ordinary soldier in a local unit to become a company commander in the main force of the Jiaodong Military District. He lived through the War of Resistance Against Japan, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and took part in the peaceful development of the country, a period of upheaval, and reform and opening up. His was a life of fearlessness and selfless devotion, a life spent striving without cease for his country and people.
