On the fantastical planet of Gaia, civilization and war intertwine beneath the shadow of the “Mist.” This mysterious substance is both the energy that powers machines and the calamity that gives rise to monsters. It is also bound up in a thousand-year struggle of fate between two planets, Gaia and Terra. Garland, Terra's guardian, seeks to devour Gaia through the “Soul Cycle Project” to ensure Terra's survival. But his creations, the silver-haired madman Kuga and the young thief Gitan, awaken to their own self-awareness and become wild cards in the conspiracy.
