The story begins on a seemingly ordinary early summer. The protagonist Chen Tuoming is a sophomore who is withdrawn and accustomed to living alone. He is living a routine campus life and is indifferent to the world around him. However, an unknown epidemic that started in a distant continent is like a pebble thrown into a lake. Its ripples are slowly and strangely eroding his peaceful world step by step through vague news, online rumors and changes quietly happening around him.
From the initial indifference, to the panic under the campus blockade, until the zombie virus suddenly broke out in the most unexpected place - his dormitory building. The campus he was familiar with in the past turned into purgatory in an instant, forcing the unsociable man to step out of his solitary corner, team up with survivors who met by chance, and struggle to break out amidst the chaos and bloodshed.
This book abandons supernatural powers, systems, and so-called government conspiracies, and focuses on the purest and most authentic apocalyptic survival. The description is rich in details and the pace is steady, focusing on depicting the reality of the spread of the epidemic, the gradual disintegration of social order, the psychological changes of ordinary people in the face of huge disasters, difficult choices and the struggle of human nature.
This is a story about an ordinary college student, Chen Tuoming, who relies on wisdom, courage and a little bit of luck to survive in the apocalypse where zombies are rampant, and tries to hold on to the last trace of humanity in a collapsing world.
