[Marriage first, love later + devoted husband + mutual healing + happy ending]
To escape the hellish family she was born into, Jiang Zhiyi takes a desperate gamble and approaches her arranged-marriage match, Chi Jinwu, the second young master of the Chi family.
At their first meeting, Jiang Zhiyi has already planned everything. In front of everyone, she says something astonishing with an air of sweet obedience: “Marry me.”
Chi Jinwu finds her amusing. He cannot refuse the family’s arranged marriage, and since it could be anyone, he might as well agree to this woman who has taken the initiative. Later, after testing her in every way, he tells her solemnly, “We can get married, but I can’t give you love.”
After the wedding, Jiang Zhiyi gradually realizes something is off. Her husband in this marriage of convenience seems far too good to her. He’s always clinging to her, flirting and teasing her, and every so often his possessiveness flares up as he obediently calls her “Wifey.”
Jiang Zhiyi: “Chi Jinwu, don’t fall for me.”
With red-rimmed eyes, Chi Jinwu holds her tight and says anxiously, “I’m going to anyway.”
Of course, Chi Jinwu has no idea that Jiang Zhiyi pushes him away because there is a thorn in her heart that she cannot pull out.
So what? He will still hold this scaredy-cat tight, again and again, and tell her, “Jiang Zhiyi, you love me. You’re crazy about me.”
“Love me the way I love you.”
Later, Jiang Zhiyi stands in front of him, stammering and fidgeting, and asks cautiously, “You don’t love me anymore?”
Satisfied with her love but pretending to be aloof, Chi Jinwu says, “Do what I did when I was pursuing you. If you do it all, I’ll consider falling in love with you again.”
“Okay!”
Her husband is angry, and now it’s her turn to chase him and win him back.
