After I Married the Eldest Prince Instead, My Childhood Sweetheart Regretted Publicly Breaking Off Our Engagement

At the Third Prince Yuan Jing's selection banquet, beauties of every kind were in attendance.

Yet everyone knew that his future princess consort could only be me, Zhao Qingli, the legitimate daughter of the Zhao family.

I prepared to accept the jade ruyi from the Third Prince with the utmost composure.

But instead, he placed it in the hands of Liu Yiyi, his wet nurse's daughter, then took her hand and knelt before the hall. “Yiyi is the one destined for me. I will marry no one else.”

“Zhao Qingli's birth chart conflicts with mine. She is unworthy of becoming the prince's consort.”

In an instant, the candidate for Yuan Jing's principal wife changed from the eldest legitimate daughter of the Zhao family to a wet nurse's daughter. Overnight, I became the laughingstock of the capital.

But the Third Prince didn't know that, apart from the emperor and empress, no one knew the actual time of my birth.

The Imperial Preceptor had once declared that I was born with the destiny of a phoenix and would one day become the mother of the realm.

If Yuan Jing himself was willing to give up the throne, no one could save him.
