I Became the Female Side Character in a Period Novel, and Came Out on Top

[A goofy, scene-stealing villainess × a seemingly aloof, secretly clingy male educated youth]

Xia Wanwan, a modern-day college student who has given up trying, transmigrates into a book.

She lands in a period novel she had just read.

But why does everyone else transmigrate as the heroine or a rich heiress, while she ends up as a wicked villainess who makes trouble at every turn?

The original owner was tricked into going to the countryside as an educated youth, then fell hopelessly in love with the male lead. She kept getting herself into trouble, and in the end, tried to drug him only to die herself.

Xia Wanwan, who has transmigrated into the book, declares, "I'm not taking the blame for that!"

In this 1970s world, where clothes and food are scarce and you need ration coupons to buy anything, Xia Wanwan has no choice but to accept reality and work in the fields.

But where did this ridiculously handsome male educated youth come from? She doesn't remember him being in the book...

"So handsome! I love him!!!"

"Hey, handsome, want to get married? I'll split my work points with you!"

The man, his face impassive, says, "Comrade, please behave yourself."

Later...

"My wife is so beautiful!"

"My wife is so good to me!"

"My wife smells so good..."

Unable to take a step without him clinging to her, Xia Wanwan asks, "What happened to that cold and distant persona you promised?"

The man pulls her into his arms. "Meeting you ruined it a long time ago."
