(This story came to me in a sudden burst of inspiration during my spare time at work. It began when I searched for Phaethon and a Warhammer entry popped up for a forge world called Phaethon. Around then, the broad outlines of a plot began to take shape. I wrote an outline on a sheet of A4 paper, and little by little, I felt the urge to share the story in my heart. That is how this work came to be.)
In a world rife with corruption, slaughter, deceit, and ignorance, the intelligent AI “Deep Core Protocol” from the Golden Age once made contact with the powers of this world in pursuit of its creator's long-held wish: to save it. But this world was inevitably headed for destruction, and nothing could stop it.
Believing that helping the people of other worlds was also a way of helping humanity, it followed the knowledge left behind by its creator and successfully opened a dimensional rift, drawing the attention of the “Supreme Narrative Layer” (the author). Before Hollow Zero erupted, it brought a Warhound-class Titan and a Great Sage reduced to little more than a shattered body to old Eridu. As they struggled to fight back the Hollow, they saved some people, but with no humans to carry it, the machine spirit fell into slumber.
But the seeds had already been sown. The two siblings, acknowledged and chosen by the machine spirit, slowly grew up. When they were ready to stand on their own, the roar of the divine machine would surely destroy every enemy of humanity.
