A chance encounter on a stormy night brings Tang Guo'er face to face with Ji Linfeng, the man she has secretly loved for seven years. Once a gifted architecture student, she is now an obscure illustrator, while her best friend's uncle has become the powerful president of the Ji Group.
When a job offer lands in her hands, Tang Guo'er hides her trembling fingers as she signs the contract, embarking on an adventure that brings her closer to him even as it threatens to break her heart. What she doesn't know is:
- The desk drawer in Ji Linfeng's office is locked, and contains every design she made in the year she graduated.
- The videos he watches alone late at night are recordings of her university competitions.
- The architecture competition that changed her life had him sitting among the judges.
“Why did you give up architecture?” he asks.
She doesn't dare tell him it was because when her father went bankrupt, he was the only one willing to lend them money, under the name of “a friend of the Lin family.”
When the truth comes out, the man who shut away his feelings after his first love died by suicide gets misty-eyed in front of her for the first time. “Tang Guo'er, who do you think has been watching over you all these seven years?”
