A cool, stern cardiac surgeon × an energetic resident, a secret romance
He mentors her; she causes trouble.
He frowns; she grins.
“Qi Ye, your heart is beating too fast.”
Lin Jia presses her fingertips to his chest, listening to the runaway rhythm through her stethoscope.
“Yeah,” he says, taking her restless hand. “That's your fault.”
There are three things Lin Jia absolutely must not do at the hospital:
Show up at the nurses' station at the same time as Qi Ye (the whole hospital's shipper group will explode).
Sneak snacks while Qi Ye is making his rounds (they'll be confiscated, along with a bonus “doctor's order”).
Go to the fire stairs alone (there are “emergencies” there more dangerous than anything in the ER).
But of course, she does them anyway
· She zones out during the morning meeting and gets called out, but Qi Ye calmly steps in to save her.
· When she confesses, she asks, “Qi Ye, want to check the merchandise first?”
· Worse, she catches the “iceberg of the medical world” smiling at his phone wallpaper: a picture of her asleep.
“Qi Ye, that's cheating.”
When their secret hospital romance is on the verge of being exposed
· The patient group chat suddenly floods with messages: “Director Qi and Doctor Lin are such a perfect match!”
· The nurses' station witnesses it all: the “allergic rash” on Doctor Lin's neck matches Director Qi's bite marks perfectly.
· Most damning of all, the hospital director holds up their “couples' consultation records,” adjusts his glasses, and asks, “Care to explain?”
Qi Ye rises calmly and presses the button to start the presentation at the hospital-wide morning meeting.
“As you can all see,” he says as their marriage certificate appears on the screen, “Doctor Lin and I are legally married.”
The three things in this world that are hardest to hide:
A cough, poverty, and the sparks in Qi Ye's eyes whenever he looks at Lin Jia.
