After transmigrating into A Lifelong Journey, Ning Qun, Ning Wei's older brother, offers himself up as a sacrifice for the System Spirit. With the organization's help, he fakes his death and escapes, beginning a life as an educated youth sent to the countryside to farm.
With a System that's nothing but a shell, Ning Qun starts farming in his personal space, helps villagers improve their seeds, builds medicinal herb fields, hunts in the mountains, catches fish in the river, repairs roads and digs canals, and establishes collective enterprises. His new life is full of excitement.
Along the way, he gathers brothers and sisters like Li Kuiyong and Qin Ling, and they work hard together.
His beloved Zhou Xiaobai also applies for a transfer to an army district not far from him. The two register their marriage and begin a sweet life as husband and wife.
In this passionate and uplifting life, Ning Qun and his companions encounter obstacles like rural tyrants and corrupt officials. United, they overcome every hardship and make the countryside better and better.
At last, the three spies responsible for the System Spirit's sacrifice discover Ning Qun's whereabouts.
Having regained control of the spy network in the northwest, the three launch their fiercest revenge against him.
With help from Fan Liping, Zhou Erge, and others in the counterintelligence and investigation division, Ning Qun defeats the three and returns to the capital.
