The Dragon Coffin Corpse King

When the night watchman had struck the fifth watch, Daoist Qingxuan saw the dragon in the hexagram.

The yarrow stalks formed the rare sign of a “Hidden Dragon Drinking Blood” on the jade-green divination board. As the last stalk fell, it spontaneously burst into flame, scorching scale-shaped marks into the incense ash. A sudden downpour shattered the western window of the temple, and the river-scented night wind swept a tattered notice into his face.

“Master!” Zhong Ming rushed in with a lantern, the hem of his robe caked in mud. “The constables from Linjiang Prefecture found something in the alley behind the City God Temple...”

“A bronze coffin, seven feet and four inches long, carved with reversed scales.” Qingxuan brushed the scrap of paper from his face, revealing an official wanted notice beneath, its ink still wet. The wide-eyed look on his young disciple’s face confirmed his suspicion: the dragon coffin recorded in the Daoist archives for six hundred years had finally appeared in the world.
