Su Wanqing, a modern medicine graduate student, falls from a building and teeters on the brink of death. Her soul transmigrates into a young woman from the Republican era who shares her name, and she awakens the space hidden inside her ancestral jade pendant. It contains a spirit spring, medicinal herbs, and jade slips of cultivation techniques, as well as the mission of reviving the ancient Taixu Sect. When the medicinal fragrance of the Republican-era girl mingles with the modern doctor's reason in the spirit spring, she realizes she is a soul spanning two lives, separated by a century. Only by gathering the Five Spirit Jades and uniting the will of the people can she reverse the spiritual energy's decline in this age of spiritual barrenness.
Huo Chengyan, a spoiled son of the military governor's household, seems carefree and frivolous on the surface, but carries a metal-and-fire spiritual root and a family blood feud. When their consciousnesses connect as they bathe together in the spirit spring, Su Wanqing glimpses his mother's dying wish in his memories. At the life-or-death moment of the blood sacrifice on Zijin Mountain, a symbiotic mark, like a red-and-gold double helix, burns into both their wrists. From then on, his heartbeat guides her, and her spirit spring is his armor. From their clashes in a Republican-era clinic to cultivating together in a modern laboratory, they are cultivation partners, comrades-in-arms, and symbiotic beings connected across time and space.
When the Five Spirit Jades resonate and open the Taixu Spirit Realm, when steam gears dance with Miao shamans on the continent of Aimon, and when ink painting merges with technological spirit energy in the Danqing Realm, Su Wanqing leads her team through the smoke of war in the Republican era, the neon of the modern world, and the mists of the stars, using the spirit spring to nourish hope in every era. The steam core of Gear Star restarts thanks to "expectation," the city of willpower on the continent of Aimon is rebuilt through "being moved," and the spiritual energy of every world is reborn through the emotions of its people.
Super pretty. The more I watch, the more I want to watch.
