【A few caveats】Slow burn, not a story about an all-powerful female lead. Everyone is doing their best to survive. The focus is on rebuilding homes after the apocalypse, with a heartwarming tone.
【A few caveats】Told from the heroine’s perspective, with an ensemble cast. There is a romance, but it takes a while to develop.
People have talked about the apocalypse for years, and every novel has already used up the same old tropes, but the end never came. Then, without warning, a meteor shower struck. Overnight, civilization was on the verge of vanishing. Living things evolved, and humans were no longer the Blue Star’s only masters.
Xiang Yuan was born after the apocalypse. Her parents died when she was young, and she grew up in an orphanage. The base raised her until she turned eighteen, the age when she was expected to support herself.
The rich lived inside the base. The newly expanded outer district was somewhat risky, but it needed people to farm, so the base built houses there. Each person could initially receive twenty mu of land. Once they came of age, they could choose where to stay. Living inside the base was obviously the better option, but someone like Xiang Yuan, who couldn’t support herself, had no choice but to farm. The orphanage had taught her how to grow crops. In recent years, spiritual plants had begun appearing randomly on the Blue Star. Eating one could grant a person an ability, and people with abilities were highly prized at the base. These plants could only be found in the wilderness, and ordinary people weren’t allowed to grow them inside the base for fear of dangerous creatures getting in. During the apocalypse, plants and animals mutated, squeezing humans out of their habitat. Only in recent years had the base cleared out the dangerous creatures and given ordinary people a chance to farm their own land. It wasn’t as safe as the inner city, but patrol teams were always on duty, and help could be called at any time.
Xiang Yuan didn’t know what things were like outside, but she still held on to a little hope for the future as she claimed her land and set out.
At first, all Xiang Yuan wanted was to grow enough food to keep herself plump and well-fed.
A light-hearted post-apocalyptic reconstruction article, very cute
A very good book, worth reading
Maybe it's because as I get older, I like to read more heartwarming novels, and this one fits the bill quite well. It was just a bit short and I felt like I didn't have enough time to watch the ending.
