(1980s setting + family drama + building a career)
Who has ever seen someone dote on her younger brother so much that she sells herself because he can’t afford a bride price, then sells her daughter to pay the bride price for her nephew?
That’s exactly how Li Cuiying and Zhang Baojun lived in their previous life, and they deserved to die!
Her birth-family nephew can’t afford a bride price? Sell the eldest daughter.
Her husband’s nephew can’t afford a bride price? Sell the second daughter!
…
The eldest daughter is married off in an exchange to a lame man, bears two daughters, suffers domestic abuse, finds no one to turn to, and jumps into a river.
The second daughter is sold to a man who drinks, gambles, and visits brothels. She ends up saddled with debt and riddled with disease.
The third daughter is married off at a high price to an old man!
…
Li Cuiying does it all to earn a reputation as a dutiful daughter to her birth family. Zhang Baojun does it so his nephew will toss the ritual bowl for him after his death.
Her birth-family brother, her husband’s brother, her birth-family nephew, her husband’s nephew.
They all leech off the two of them, and they’re perfectly happy to let it happen.
A 96-year-old woman is transported into her body and turns the 1980s’ brother-spoiling doormat into a whole new person.
I gave birth to five lovely daughters. What the hell are my brothers and nephews to me?
If the old man won’t listen, I’ll beat him. If my brother won’t listen, I’ll kick him.
[The old woman tells her to sell her daughter so her grandson can get a wife.
Li Cuihua leans close to the old woman’s ear and says, “Mother, you’re so old. You might as well die already!”]
[Her mother-in-law tells her to sell her daughter so her grandson can get a wife. Li Cuihua grabs Zhang Baojun’s hand and punches her a black eye, then gives her another one herself.
Li Cuiying: “Mom, your son punched you once, so I have to punch you once too!”]
Li Cuiying turns the 1980s’ brother-spoiling doormat into a woman who only dotes on her daughters and refuses to support her brother! Her five daughters are absolutely thriving!
I just watched the beginning and thought it looked good
It's a very nice book. It's quite interesting and enjoyable. Why doesn't anyone read it? It ended too suddenly. It's possible that not many people watched it and the author lost the motivation to continue. It's such a pity.
Real, down to earth, not bad.
Well written, love listening to it
