When Shen Yan was sorting out a batch of damaged files, he discovered a person who had never been named. The roster was soaked with water, leaving only vague ink marks; the oral history referred to him as "that young man"; and in the martyr materials, there was only a few words like "another comrade died." After a heavy rain, Shen Yan woke up at the historical scene recorded in the archives. He cannot change the ending that has been written into the annals of history. He can only enter the gaps where records are missing and testimonies are contradictory: sending letters home that have not arrived, leaving testimonies for those who have been wronged, and retrieving the names of those who have been erased by time. But every time he brings back a piece of truth, he loses a piece of his own memory. As the investigation deepens, the files are also quietly changing. Until one day, the word "Shen Yan" appeared in the originally blank victim registration column. Only then did he realize that he went back to the past again and again not to look for some unknown person. Because the forgotten person in the file may be himself.
