What books should you buy to introduce children to history?
What can you do when historical facts are too hard to memorize?
How can you pass on an engaging and practical understanding of history to children?
Fan Deng and the Fan Shu team collected, organized, and researched a wealth of historical materials, drawing on theories from psychology and brain science to explore in depth the question of how to help children learn and remember history more easily. The result is this series of Chinese history comics for young readers: Comic History of China: Ma Xiaofei’s Adventures.
In these books, young readers follow Ma Xiaofei and his friends as they transmigrate through time. Through exciting adventures, they experience the knowledge in their history textbooks firsthand, learning through experience, remembering through laughter, and growing through stories.
To help children understand major historical events in greater detail and depth, and build up their knowledge of history and literature from an early age, the series also includes a section called “Uncle Fan Deng Talks History” and a companion knowledge handbook. These help children develop a systematic understanding of history, from the big picture to the finer details, and from structure to content.
