The cunning, wicked fox-girl Shen Ling seduces the aloof and self-possessed young tutor Gu Huaijin, a refined nobleman, and drags him from his lofty perch into the mud.
When Shen Ling was young, barbarian tribes swept across the northern deserts. Her parents gave their lives to protect her, and she narrowly survived before being rescued by Prince Cien, Shen Chenghan.
In the pouring rain, Shen Chenghan took one look at her face and chose her.
The rain washed the mud and blood from her face. Though she was still a child, he could already glimpse the striking beauty who would one day captivate the capital.
Carefully trained by Shen Chenghan, Shen Ling became the most useful blade in his hand, killing, setting fires, framing and slandering others, and clearing every obstacle in his way.
Gu Huaijin was handsome and refined, with the brightness of a clear breeze and a radiant moon. Though still young, he had already earned the emperor’s trust and admiration, and was a shining figure among the capital’s noble families.
He had thought his life would continue to follow its proper course.
Until the floods in Jiangnan, when they first met in the woods. His heart stirred, but he did not yet understand why.
Later, even knowing she was using him, he accepted it willingly.
For more than twenty years, he had restrained himself and followed every rule, making an exception only for her.
He even deceived the emperor and defied his family, willingly jumping off a cliff for her and losing a leg.
When everything came to light,
“Gu Huaijin, you saved me once. Why can’t you save me a second time?”
Shen Ling wrapped her arms tightly around Gu Huaijin from behind.
“My parents were killed by the barbarians. Even though I was lucky enough to be rescued, he only treated me as a pawn, carefully shaping and exploiting me. Right and wrong, good and evil, it all comes down to where you stand. I understand that now. I’m willing to change!”
Tears streamed down her face, and her voice broke apart.
Gu Huaijin said nothing. He pried Shen Ling’s arms away and left on his own.
Shen Ling wiped away her tears.
You forced me to do this!
Some of your content makes me feel a bit unrealistic. Can the emperor be killed by an official from a county or a state? The emperor probably asked Shou to go down and do some work. The flood situation was unknown, so he should have asked his subordinates to check it first. Unexpectedly, he didn't even check it yet, so he just went incognito and paid a private visit.
It's really good to watch. It's a genre I've never seen before. I really like the heroine's character. It's very good. I'm looking forward to the plot behind it.
