1. Cause: In 1931, the September 18th Incident broke out, and the Japanese army quickly invaded and occupied the three northeastern provinces. Xie Wendong was originally an ordinary farmer in Tulong Mountain District, Sanjiang Province, Northeast China. His family was relatively well-off and he served as the local five guarantee chief. But the invasion of the Japanese army broke his peaceful life. They seized land, confiscated people's guns, and burned, killed, and looted villagers, doing all kinds of evil. Xie Wendong's relatives and fellow villagers were constantly persecuted by the Japanese army, which aroused strong anger in his heart. He decided not to sit still and wait for death, but began to secretly contact knowledgeable people to prepare for resistance.
2. Development: In March 1934, Xie Wendong responded to the proposal of armed resistance by the security chief Wang Kuiyi and launched the Tulongshan peasant riot. They led the peasant cavalry to attack the Tulongshan Police Station and business groups and disarmed the pseudo-police station. Later, they successfully ambushed the Japanese troops who came to suppress them in Baijiagou, and killed the Japanese leader Osaka Iizuka. The Tulongshan riots became famous and attracted many patriots and farmers to join. The team grew rapidly and was later renamed the People's National Salvation Army, with Xie Wendong as the commander. However, with the crazy counterattack and encirclement and suppression by the Japanese army, the People's National Salvation Army suffered successive setbacks in the battle, suffered heavy losses, and the team continued to reduce in number. Xie Wendong led the remaining troops to move with difficulty and move around.
