Crystallizing particles released by out-of-control swarms of nanomachines transformed living beings and machines into crystalline monsters known as the “Fallen.” Survivors huddled behind the walls of Dawn City, reduced to experimental subjects for three major esper conglomerates. The Far North Ice Coffin used cryogenic chambers to create “living weapons”; the Molten Iron Colossus squeezed labor from people with mechanical prosthetics; and the Azure Gene Institute bred controllable Fallen in incubators. Beneath the city’s glittering surface, the old-world AI “Weaver Ω-01” was purging human genes through its “Quantum Sieve” project. Meanwhile, Lin Ye, a cleaner in an underground fight club, was drawn into a genetic conspiracy spanning two decades by a crystallized chip engraved with “Ω-07.”
