College student Lin Xiaoman happens upon a mysterious antique shop called "Time Pavilion" on a rainy day. Drawn to an exquisite bronze mask inside, she buys it despite the shopkeeper Old Zhou's warning.
A Strange Nightmare: After bringing the mask home, Xiaoman starts having nightmares about an ancient sacrificial ceremony. When she wakes, she finds the mask on her face, while her roommate Li Meng reacts with inexplicable fear.
Xiaoman discovers that the mask cannot be removed. She also begins seeing eerie shadows invisible to ordinary people. Realizing the mask may be cursed, she decides to return to the antique shop for help.
Old Zhou reveals that the mask was used in ancient rituals and bears a powerful curse that slowly devours its wearer's soul. Xiaoman is already its seventh victim; the previous six all died.
Following Old Zhou's guidance, Xiaoman meets Zhang Mo, a photographer who can see spirits. The three form a team and begin searching for a way to break the mask's curse. After a long and arduous struggle, they finally defeat the demons and are reborn.
