Northeast Chinese Shamanism: Zhao Tiezhu

A folk tale featuring spirit-medium rituals on a heated kang, reading fortunes with millet soaked in sorghum liquor, summoning spirits with a red cloth over the eyes, and offerings of raw eggs streaked with blood and Guandong tobacco. When a weasel spirit seeks a human title, it deliberately asks, "Do I look like a person or a god?" Answer incorrectly and disaster will follow. To deal with a possession, you must first untie the hair cord knotted around a roof beam.
