The night I was murdered,
Mom became bound to the System.
The System told her she had one chance to bring me back to life for free.
She could also choose to forgive a hundred people unconditionally in exchange for her younger brother’s bright future.
Mom chose the latter without hesitation.
So she forgave the person who killed me.
When someone failed to repay a debt and delayed my younger sister’s treatment until she died, Mom still chose to forgive them.
Later,
her younger brother sold her off to the mountains for money.
Looking at her tortured face, close to madness, I couldn’t help asking:
[Mom, will you choose to forgive this time too?]
