The Ninth Mirror Curse

The click of a shutter cuts through a century of time. The ninth photograph is a contract for your life.

Down-on-his-luck photographer Zhang Xingwei takes a job photographing a haunted old mansion for money. But on his ninth shutter press, he captures a Republican-era bride who looks exactly like Tian Jiangjiang, a restorer of ancient books. A bronze water clock runs backward, and a soul-devouring curse mark appears on his right hand. The marriage contract hidden in the commission reveals that he is the sacrificial offering chosen for a ghost marriage a hundred years ago.

Ten thousand bronze mirrors beneath an abandoned mansion form a sinister soul-eating array, and a modern camera can rewrite a Republican-era murder. The ancient books restored by Tian Jiangjiang seep with corpse wax, while the blood tears at the corners of antique dealer Cai Zhen's eyes conceal his inhuman secret. When the team discovers that Zhang Xingwei was born as the result of a life-swapping photo shoot, the echoes of sacrifices across twelve time periods are already sounding from deep within the tomb of mirrors.

The shutter is a curse, and focusing is death.

Your reflection is waiting in the mirror at a Republican-era wedding banquet for you to press the shutter a ninth time.
