I Saved Your Life, Senior. Why Are You Clinging to Me Now?

[Campus Romance + Everyday Life + No Rebirth, No System + Love Boldly]

(Not recommended; this is a practice piece.)

At ten o'clock at night, the roadside food stall was bustling with life.

Lu Yu was happily eating skewers with his roommates when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a drunk man groping a girl at the next table.

He'd never met her. He didn't know she was the campus belle or what her name was.

All he saw was a girl being bullied.

His body moved before his mind could catch up. He shot to his feet, all 185 centimeters of him, and strode over in two steps to stand between her and the man.

“Take your hand off her.”

His voice wasn't loud, but his gaze was as cold as a blade.

The drunk man cursed and tried to shove him. Lu Yu didn't budge, his fist already clenched.

From behind him came a soft “Thank you,” the girl's voice trembling a little.

He didn't turn around. He only shifted to shield her more completely.

Only later did he learn that the girl he'd saved was Su Wanqing, the campus belle admired by the whole school.

And that act of heroism was only the beginning of their story.

He was the son of a fallen soldier, earning his tuition by writing novels, with a broken heart hidden beneath his sunny exterior.

She was a cool-headed senior with a warm heart. From that moment on, someone had a place in her heart.

Underhanded tricks on the basketball court, tears over misunderstandings, and nerves before a confession.

A passionate young man and a cool campus belle, from a roadside stall to the red carpet, from the heat of a fist to the tenderness of a palm.

I impulsively stepped in to protect you, and you made my heart race for the rest of my life.
