Late one night, Cui Ming, away on a business trip, received a call from his wife, Lin Yan.
She said she'd worked late and, after getting home, couldn't open the door with the passcode. She thought she'd gone to the wrong floor.
But when she went downstairs and came back up, the door opened without a problem. Thinking it over afterward, though, she was sure she hadn't gone to the wrong floor or entered the wrong code.
The next day, the couple pulled up the security footage, and what they saw sent chills down their spines.
The first time Lin Yan rode the elevator, she didn't appear in the footage at all.
Only on her second trip was her figure recorded as normal.
Even stranger, the electronic lock's app showed:
The first attempt was marked 'Incorrect passcode,' while the second said 'Fingerprint recognized successfully.'
But Lin Yan never used her fingerprint to unlock the door.
When Cui Ming found a note in the elevator that read, 'Did you see me?',
he finally realized that the person who came home that night might not have been his wife at all...
