During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-979), the Central Plains experienced turmoil, vassal towns were separated, the Liang, Tang, Jin, Han, and Zhou dynasties rose and fell alternately, and the Ten Kingdoms stood side by side and conquered continuously. With the rise of Khitan (Liao) in the north, Tubo and Nanzhao were eyeing them, people's livelihood was in decline, and China fell into the darkest period of division. The protagonist Chen Yuan, a graduate student in the Department of Modern History, accidentally traveled to the third year of Kaiping in the Later Liang Dynasty (909) and possessed a down-and-out scholar in Puzhou who was kidnapped by the rebel army. He carried the "Chinese Unification System" and sealed the entire history of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms as well as modern military, agricultural, and political knowledge in his memory, and shouldered the mission of ending the troubled times.
