Young King! The Driving Force Behind Shaanxi and Gansu, the Hidden Hand That Toppled the Qing

Young Prince Fu is a historical web novel about events during the Tongzhi era at the end of the Qing dynasty. Against the backdrop of the Taiping Rebellion, the protagonist Fu Hao, also known as Chen Fu Wang, becomes embroiled in historical events such as the Hui uprising in Shaanxi and Gansu. Political maneuvering and military conflict drive the story forward.

Main plot

Told from the perspective of Fu Hao, son of Chen Decai, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s Prince Fu, the novel depicts the complex situation in Shaanxi and Gansu at the end of the Qing dynasty. In 1862, Taiping and Nian forces joined together and advanced on Xi’an, sparking the Hui uprising in Shaanxi and Gansu and intensifying the Qing court’s crisis of rule in the northwest. As a representative of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Fu Hao seeks a way to survive amid tensions between Hui and Han communities, while becoming entangled with the Qing court, the Nian forces, and the Hui rebel forces in Yunnan.

Historical background

The novel draws on real historical events, including the Hui uprising in Shaanxi and Gansu during the Tongzhi era and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s western campaign, while adapting them for dramatic effect. The joint action of the Taiping and Nian forces in 1862 is a real historical event, but the novel combines it with the fictional identity of “Young Prince Fu” to heighten the conflict.
