Fang Tianyi

Some plot elements draw on the TV series Black Fox to make up for the unfulfilled “Yi-Mei” pairing. This is a fan-fiction work.

The September 18th Incident breaks out, casting a shadow over the land of China. Japan brazenly occupies the three northeastern provinces. The news hits like a bomb, sending shock waves across the nation. Standing amid the bustling crowds, Fang Tianyi clutches a newspaper in his hand. The headline on the front page stabs painfully into his eyes. Later, as Fang Tianyi passes a restaurant, he sees several Japanese men bullying a female student. He rushes inside and beats them up, saving the college student. The Japanese men cannot let the matter go. Using their influence, they investigate Fang Tianyi and discover that he is Gu Hansen’s adopted son. They pressure the government to hand him over. With no other choice, Fang Tianyi leaves Tianjin with his sworn younger sister, Gu Ting, and heads to Nanjing to join the Fuxing Society. There he unexpectedly reunites with his family friend Liao Sicheng. Fang Tianyi receives a new assignment, and he, Liao Sicheng, and Gu Ting head to Shanghai to search for documents lost by the Japanese. During the mission, Fang Tianyi meets Yu Mei. The two work together seamlessly time and again, progressing from partners to friends. As they spend time together, Fang Tianyi discovers that Liao Sicheng and Yu Mei appear to be members of the Nationalist secret service, but are actually both Communist Party members. Fang Tianyi asks Liao Sicheng to let him join the organization, and his relationship with Yu Mei grows closer, eventually turning romantic. When they are in danger while supporting Songjiang County, they are saved by Zhuang Wenjie, a New Fourth Army captain. After passing the organization’s test, Fang Tianyi becomes a Party member. Gu Ting, Wang Wenyuan, Wang Fugui, and Hong Baoshun also apply to join. They all hold fast to the same ideal: driving out the invaders and securing a peaceful life for the people. Together, they embark on a perilous journey through the War of Resistance.
