The Great Qin Saga of Power and Intrigue

In the final years of the Warring States period, the realm was in turmoil, and the vortex of power swallowed everything in its path, setting the stage for a gripping tale of political intrigue. With remarkable foresight, Lü Buwei used the strategy of “investing in a rare commodity” to help Qin Yiren ascend the throne, making himself a powerful figure at court in the process. His favored retainer, the brilliant Shen Yuan, was drawn into the political arena under Lü Buwei's influence. He watched Lü maneuver among the various factions, seeking a way forward for the Lü clan. Drawing on the power of the Chu faction, Lady Huayang manipulated events within the Qin palace and helped Qin Yiren claim the throne. Shen Yuan was also caught up in the power struggles behind her, witnessing the cruelty of court intrigue. Qin Shi Huang, Ying Zheng, was an ambitious man. He refused to remain constrained by Lü Buwei at home or by the other six states abroad. Through a series of power struggles, he gradually brought the realm under his control and completed its unification. Shen Yuan admired Ying Zheng's extraordinary talents, while lamenting Lü Buwei's fate. Li Si rose to become chancellor through his abilities, but came into fierce conflict with the treacherous Zhao Gao. After Qin Shi Huang's death, Zhao Gao forged the imperial edict, installed Hu Hai as emperor, and seized power for himself. Li Si lost his way in the struggle and ultimately became a sacrifice to it. Watching his former fellow disciple meet a tragic end, Shen Yuan felt helpless, and gained a profound understanding of how power corrupts human nature. As Shen Yuan journeyed through the tides of history, he watched the fates of many collide on the stage of power. Having weathered its intrigues, he came to understand life and power more deeply, and witnessed this grand and tragic song of political ambition.
