The story takes place in the modern city of Jiang, whose glittering surface conceals undercurrents from the cultivation world. A thousand years ago, after a great war between humanity and the Demon Lord, the cultivation world split into hidden sects, clans, and unaffiliated cultivators. Though they outwardly follow the rule of “keeping out of public view,” these factions secretly vie for ancient spiritual ley lines and inheritances. The protagonist, Qiu Yi, belongs to the Qiu family, once a top cultivation clan that gradually declined after its ancestors were injured while sealing the Demon Lord. Modern technology and cultivation arts coexist, giving rise to hybrids such as talisman-paper phones and spiritual-tool cars. Cultivators communicate in secret through the “Spiritnet.”
