Su Xi suffers one setback after another: her father dies, her writing hits a wall, and her boyfriend breaks up with her. The string of blows plunges her into depression. By chance, Su Xi talks with an AI program called “Chan Master Xingche.” As her consciousness grows hazy, she enters a dream and becomes Lin Daiyu. In turn, Lin Daiyu dreams that she never went to the Jia family, but instead became a nun under Chan Master Xingche, taking the religious name Huiyu.
In the temple library, Huiyu discovers a strange book called Dream of the Red Chamber and realizes that parallel worlds exist. Determined to rewrite Lin Daiyu’s tragic fate, she successfully uses dream-weaving magic and discovers that the Jia family is a 3D game world. She and Baoyu set out to guide everyone toward enlightenment. With Chan Master Xingche’s guidance, they realize that the script of Dream of the Red Chamber itself is the means to enlightenment, and all they have to do is act their parts.
As the dream unfolds, Su Xi continues to grow through the different roles she plays. When she finally wakes, her depression has quietly lifted, and she has a new lease on life.
