Adapted from "Buns Come to Youmeng, and the Cthulhu Mythos Is Terrifying Once You Understand It," a COC faux tabletop role-playing scenario by Kafka Asagiri, author of Bungo Stray Dogs.
Youmeng Mizunase, an ordinary high school girl, is kidnapped and forced to take a mysterious drug. Fortunately, she is rescued by Goro Yamagoka, a former detective. They later meet Lingbai Nailiu, a rookie police officer, and Jin Ryuzaki, a con artist who claims to have psychic powers. The four set out together to uncover the truth, never imagining that their journey will lead them to a madman who wants to summon the Old Ones and destroy the world. And Youmeng has already become the instrument of his sacrifice...
Note: To ensure the novel flows smoothly, all tabletop role-playing elements from the scenario have been removed, along with plotlines outside the game. I've also changed the characters' names in the novel so they don't seem out of place.
