After reading The Mistake by the River, it is a kind of reality, a dark satire. No wonder it was written by Yu Hua when he was crazy. It made my hair stand on end. In The Mistake by the River, he killed the madman, but he became a new "madman". In reality, a tragedy was caused by a child, Pippi. He threw his cousin to death, but he was also kicked to death by his uncle Shanggang, and his father, Shanggang, avenged himself and was eventually shot... A family of lunatics, none of whom were normal, was full of dark irony. I felt ridiculous and even absurd when reading it. Teacher Yu Hua is so good at writing, so awesome
It feels very sudden, and there are obvious pauses between the lines. After each pause, it tells something that seems to have nothing to do with the previous one, which seems to be out of context, but after you finish reading the story, it feels very regular. The second and third stories both have a bit of a crazy feel, and I feel that the people in them are all crazy. This allows me to experience the psychological activities of a madman, and see the world from the perspective of a madman. When I enter it, I feel like I understand the world of the current madman, but I also feel that these characters are the deepest darkness in our hearts, an amplification of our dark psychology, overriding our subject, and making us crazy. The first story is a cycle, a cycle between madmen and normal people, and the opposition between madmen and normal people. The fourth story talks about love. I feel like this part is not written by Teacher Yu Hua. Maybe he imitated it. It feels normal. But at the end of the book, Sister Hui suddenly didn't come back to life. It looked very helpless [laughing]
This is the first time I read Yu Hua's book about killing, blood, darkness, and inhumanity. I can only say that he truly reflects the multi-faceted nature of a human being, and also shows the cruelty and perversion of the human heart. His writing skills are amazing and beautiful.
After reading it, I just felt my scalp was numb, my hair stood on end, and my spine was chilling. Except "1986", I read all the others in one sitting. The madman described by Mr. Yu Hua from the perspective of a madman in 1986 is too real. It feels very confusing when reading, but maybe it is also the world of a madman.
When I read his books, I felt like I had been traumatized. After reading it, I was mentally disturbed. The last short story "Ancient Love" is relatively gentle (maybe I am used to it), but it also involves bloody scenes of cannibalism. The most uncomfortable part is "A Kind of Reality", which cannot be described as uncomfortable. The cousin threw his younger brother to death without realizing it or feeling the pain; the grandmother thought she was sick and old and ignored everything, but she ignored her when her grandson fell to death; the elder brother kicked his younger brother and son to death to vent his anger; the younger brother tied the elder brother alive to a tree and laughed to death; the elder sister-in-law sent the uncle to prison and shot him + pretended to be his wife and sent him to the hospital for autopsy. It felt like everyone had problems and everyone was crazy. In "The Mistake by the River", I also felt that everyone in it was mentally disturbed and abnormal...[Face covering]
Thanks to the words written by a scrawled puppy, it really makes people feel that reading is a kind of enjoyment😋... Publish more books, I like to read them
Very good, very beautiful
I haven't read Yu Hua's works for a long time. A friend has watched the movie "The Mistake by the River" and because he knows that I like suspense and reasoning themes, he recommended me to read this book. He was very complimentary. When I read this book, I didn't expect that there would be four stories. The first one is "Story by the River". The story is not as good as I expected, but it is still thought-provoking. The other three stories, like "The Mistake by the River", all gave me a very absurd feeling and exposed the ugly malice of that era. They can be read.
It's not as creepy as expected, because Yu Hua's descriptions are superb, and the morbid world he writes is inexplicably reasonable, so the sense of immersion is very strong. The bloody description is like a kind of art, which is very enjoyable to watch.
We in China have our own vine trees😀
Chilling is my description of the mistake by the river. The way we see the world depends on what we have experienced. Few people can evaluate it objectively, so we often fall into a cave of prejudice and spend our lives in this prejudice. In fact, it's not that we have too little experience or that our hearts are too fragile, because we are all polluted, polluted by other people's words, polluted by painful experiences, polluted by the difficulties in front of us, polluted by social injustice. When we connect with others, we will inevitably fall into fear. This kind of fear is that our inner true self is suppressed, and we habitually wear a cloak of hypocrisy. But how many people live for themselves. Ma Zhe and Madman are not opposites, but are marginalized people who are ignorant of the world. Rules cannot change people, but character determines fate. They seem to be fighting fate, but in fact they complete a closed loop in fate. We cannot escape the fate of being assimilated, but this is not the so-called providence, but an individual choice.
The more painful the books, the more I find that I like them more and more. At this time, because of their patience and attitude and courage to overcome difficulties, they give me the motivation to move forward in life. No matter what the difficulties are, I can face them without fear or fear. Thinking about it, I can do it, not just doing something, it doesn't matter, I can do it, which is the greatest courage. At the same time, we also recognize the complexity of human nature, understand human nature, know the appropriate distance, know how to protect ourselves, and know what to say. We don't like to hear the truth in interpersonal relationships, but like to hear hope and information, which can alleviate the suffering in life. Therefore, language is also an art. Know how to show weakness, know how to be modest, and know how to put down your body. Face is very important, and the right to speak is also important. It also requires an expert in doing things and being dedicated to complete it. Yes, the pain is still there, so reading can break your own limitations, break your own cognition, break your own personality, open your horizons, and make yourself better little by little.
I basically didn't understand this novel. It's because I have limited talent and knowledge, and I can't understand some of the metaphors. But you'll understand after reading more, so I'd better read the book more. If you read it a hundred times, the meaning will come to you! ! !
The storyline and language are so violent that they corrode the bones, and are the spiritual fear brought about by the core of survival of a generation.
Yu Hua's novels are always full of blood and violence, which will shock people deeply after reading them!
I cried while reading it. It is difficult to identify whether you are crazy or not. It is sad that you should be reduced to madness and your sentence will be reduced. The confusion of the spiritual world has profound implications. The love between Yagyu and Miss Hui is like a dream and will not end well. Suddenly looking back, I saw the ruins of the wall, the sound of the piano, the whispers, the willow trees like dead bones, and the body temperature and fragrance you left behind on the grass where you lay.
2025.9.26 10:26 On the way to Qinhuangdao, traveling in an RV. The second story is a bit scary. When I read the second story, I couldn't remember the first story. The third story made me confused. The fourth story is similar to a Chinese fairy tale.
Yu Hua's books are often read and updated, and their styles are varied. The four articles included in this book include reality, fiction, and some even show the style of magical realism.
I haven't read the last two articles. Yu Hua's works are all very good, but I've read less of them. Maybe it's because his themes and pictures are simple but with strong real-life pain, and I can't calm down for a long time after reading them. I prefer to use novels as a paradise to escape reality and satisfy my ideals.
You can't live without being crazy! I love Teacher Yu Hua's works! [Sending Hearts] After reading this collection of novellas, I found that the works lack some of the warmth of Yu Hua's novels, but they focus on exposing the dark side of human nature and reflecting the differences in society. This collection of novels is not a suspense drama or a thriller, but a documentary that reflects society and humanities.
The final outcome is what matters. It means that under certain circumstances, a normal person can transform into an abnormal person.
"The Mistake by the River" tears apart the mask of reality with a ridiculous murder case. In the fog of reasoning, order and rationality collapse, and the chaos of human nature and the impermanence of fate are chilling.
2026.7.12.8.00 After reading this book, I was a little confused. After checking the relevant information, I found out that it was a suspenseful mystery story. Yu Hua didn't quite understand this book, and I might not be comfortable with the suspense genre. So-so. It is not as well written as other authors. Maybe it is because there is philosophy hidden in the story, so it is more difficult to read.
The most brutal and crazy one among Yu Hua's works.
Too crazy, too depressing
It was horrifying to watch, and there were many things that I couldn't understand.
The past seems to have passed, and the rainy day is forgotten by those under the sun
The dust of the times hidden in the story is really heartbreaking
There is a kind of tragic beauty
Each content is more horrifying than the last!
