Bureau of False Identity Management

Your life is just one page in our archives.

[A Worldview Turned Upside Down]

In 2045, in the New Asian Federation,

a citizen’s “identity” is a national resource, managed centrally by the Fake Identity Bureau (FIB). Using brain-computer interfaces and biometric data, the bureau carries out:

- Identity repossession: Those deemed useless to society have their IDs revoked and their memories erased before a new life is “assigned” to them;

- Personality rentals: The elite can temporarily rent someone else’s identity to experience life in a different social class;

- Guilt transfer: The wealthy implant their criminal records into the brain chips of scapegoats.

The rules of the black market:

- “Ghosts” sell the right to use their identities, but doing so more than three times causes their memories to merge;

- The resistance group, the True Name Society, carves data tattoos under victims’ skin to preserve their real identities.
