Zhang Jianjun, who was born in 1982, resolutely gave up his academic dream when his family suffered a sudden change, and shouldered the heavy responsibility of supporting the family. At the age of 17, he bid farewell to the dusty intersection of his hometown with money for long-distance bus tickets that five relatives had to scrape together, and embarked on the road to work south to Guangdong.
