Seeking a Heavenly Investiture: Strange Tales of a Northeastern Spirit Medium

Deep in the old forests of Northeast China, fox spirits demand a title, snake spirits ask for passage, and paper effigies hang from trees... These taboos passed down by word of mouth from the older generation stir up a strange storm on a twenty-first-century campus. Handsome campus star Yue Peng, orphaned young and raised by his grandmother, draws everyone’s attention with his good looks and many talents. But when he brings his girlfriend Su Xiaoyu back to his village, he stumbles upon a long-buried spiritual bond. A yellow weasel knocks at the door at night, smoke rises from the shrine, and his girlfriend starts behaving strangely. Even the graves of his deceased parents bear bloodstained contracts written on yellow paper. Only then does he realize he has long been caught up in a spirit-medium tribulation spanning twenty years.
