That Year, the Reed Plumes Were Like Snow

The story takes place in the poor and backward land of northern Jiangsu. It follows the turbulent marriage of its male protagonist, Zhang Dahe, and female protagonist, Huang Qiuyue. Above all, it tells of Qiuyue, a rural woman from the lowest ranks of society, stubbornly fighting against her fate, as well as many others who toil endlessly in pursuit of a happier life, love but cannot stay together, and, crushed by social convention, ultimately choose to die. The story portrays the sweeping changes in the countryside from the 1950s through the 1980s.

To make the story easier to read, I am posting it on the platform chapter by chapter. I hope readers will kindly share their criticism and corrections!
