Modern "intellectuals" (who know some common sense about natural history, history, and physics) travel to the crisis-ridden era of the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and find that their little "common sense" has become their greatest reliance. With a golden finger who can "see through" the essence of things, they survive in the wilderness, identify strange animals, build tribes, and make "inventions", and accidentally become a mentor in the wilderness.
