The protagonist, Zhong Kui, was born a jiangshi, but unlike other jiangshi, he was born to jiangshi parents.
Zhong Kui attained enlightenment amid chaos, with no memory of his past life. Everything he knew came from what his master told him.
As far back as he could remember, his world contained only his master, who was both father and teacher to him.

The immortal was defeated, and a fairy used herself as a conduit to call down heavenly tribulation lightning and destroy the demons. She was also struck by the backlash of the lightning, but Zhong Kui saved her. And so the story begins…
