The Man Hiding Beneath Women’s Skirts

The Tenghe caravan rescued Prince Yi at Chalian River. Driven by a desire to avenge his father's death, Chalian River joined the prince's forces. During the breakout at the Dadu River, he accidentally wandered into Lugu Lake, where the Mosuo people rescued him and taught him secret Tibetan martial arts. To avenge Prince Yi, he joined the Black Flag Army and took part in the campaign in Annam. To solve the army's munitions shortage, Chalian River went to Gujiu to negotiate with Chen Yanxing, the richest man in the region. Sympathetic to the Black Flag Army, Chen Yanxing rallied the mine owners to donate tin ore, helping the army acquire Krupp cannons and win the Sino-French War under Feng Zicai's command. The young British woman Chris left England with the Frenchman Dai Gaonong to escape the constraints of marriage, but the two were separated in the Strait of Malacca. Dai Gaonong took part in building the Sino-Annam Railway with his design for a trestle bridge, while Chris designed a reverberatory furnace for the Gujiu Company, helping it go public in Hong Kong. After entering government service, Ren Shunan was sent to Mengzi by En Chengpai. There, he consolidated the Gujiu tin industry and helped modernize it. Chen Yanxing, chairman of the Gujiu Company, reorganized it as a joint-stock company and established a bank to raise funds for railway construction, hoping to stop the French from building the Gujiu-Lin Railway. The company's board secretary, revolutionary Huang Guangzong, died alongside warlord Tuo Long in the battle to defend Gujiu. Zhao Ping'an was Ren Shunan's classmate. After repeatedly failing the imperial examinations, he went to Gujiu to work in the mines and became a local tycoon. Following plans brought back by Ren Shunan, he built Huaiyuan Fangpu. To save Ren Shunan, Zhao Ping'an joined Tuo Long's ranks, eventually leaping to his death from a cliff. While Chalian River was a monk on Jizu Mountain, he obtained a map to the Nanzhao treasure. Li Longyun came to seize it, and a battle to protect the treasure erupted in Nanjian.
