She Fled Toward the Mountains and Seas

Period romance · Pure love · A woman’s growth

A working-class girl’s first attempt to cross class boundaries, a pure-love poem from the heart of everyday life in the 1990s.

Zhao Heng ran away from her wedding. Even if marriage was meant to chain her and debt to shackle her, her soul would never be sold.

Look: once an ordinary person takes a single step into the city and sees its splendor, they may already have tasted the poison called ambition.

She wants to reach a place she once had to look up to see.

Fine, then. Let him be the shield that charges into battle, and the wind that sweeps her aloft when she spreads her wings.

He teaches her to read, and she teaches him to hold his head high. He teaches her reason, and she teaches him to fight back.

“Xiao Heng, choose me as your way out, okay?”

“Yanqing, happiness belongs neither to the rich nor the poor, but to those who know when they have enough.”

Two wounded souls mending each other, finding redemption as they journey toward one another.
